Psychology is divided into two separate subfields after introductory college courses: experimental and clinical. Experimental Psychology is one of the Social Sciences along with sociology, geography, economics, history, anthropology etc. Each field tries to explain human behavior scientifically. That is they try to use the scientific method as much as possible. For example in history and anthropology, there no chance to replicate conditions and other types of comparison have to be used. In experimental psychology and sociology, true experiments can be conducted and the conditions can be replicated.

Criminology is a social science that specifically deals with crime and draws from psychology and sociology and other relevant disciplines.

Clinical Psychology usually leads to counsling degrees.

Psychiatry is specialty for MDs. They are doctors who obtain additional education to treat psychological diseases and conditions.

Human resources is a subdisipline of business that deals with the management of people, hiring, benefits, and payroll issues as there are many laws about these topics.
